South Mountain Campus Overview

“South”, AAEC’s first campus, has earned wide recognition for the accomplishments of its students as the surrounding South Mountain community has grown and changed.

On the main campus on Baseline Road, and at the “Annex” on the campus of South Mountain Community College, students, some of whom make long commuting journeys to campus, have a great opportunity to get ahead through the completion of tuition-paid college classes.

South is a busy place. Students ride, read; study, serve; mentor, model;  grow, mature; lead, laugh and learn. Service projects offer students community connections; rich club offerings contribute to a positive campus environment; the partnership with SMCC opens doors to the vast array of programs offered at the college.

Through a unique collaboration, students participate in classes and presentations through the SMCC Storytelling Institute. Deeper understanding of themselves and their stories, and the huge leap of confidence that comes through crafting and delivering presentations, lead to a sense of assurance, broadens future horizons, and affirms the power and potential that every student has.

It’s one more component of a program staffed by dedicated teachers and administrators who believe in that potential. No wonder 25% of graduates receive their Associate Degree from SMCC a week before graduating high school, and all graduates earn an average 38 transferrable college credits.

In their own words: they are ready to successfully navigate the next steps on their journeys toward successful careers and community membership.
